Algarve leads 44 nominations in ‘World Travel Awards 2023’

The Algarve is once again highlighted in the nominations for the European Gala of the World Travel Awards (WTA), which will take place in Batumi, Georgia on September 30.
Algarve is the beautiful southern coastline of Portugal. It is a region blessed with glorious sandy beaches, picturesque fishing towns and a glorious climate. Among the 44 nominations for Tourist accommodation, Algarve stands out as a candidate for the ‘Best Beach Destination’ in Europe and ‘Best Sustainable Destination’.
In addition to these 2 nominations, Algarve is also running with another 42 nominations for tourist accommodation, including categories such as Best Beach Hotel, Best Beach Resort, Best Family Resort, Best Lifestyle Resort, and Best Leisure Resort in Europe, etc.
Among the nominations, Algarve has already collected 9 times for ‘Best Beach Destination’ category. In 2023, Algarve debuts as the ‘Best Sustainable Destination’ in Europe 2023, a category that makes its debut in these awards that distinguish excellence in the travel and tourism sector.
In the race for Best Beach Destination in Europe 2023, competitors from the Algarve are Porto Santo Island (Madeira), Cannes (France), Corfu and Costa Navarino (Greece), Majorca and Marbella (Spain), and Sardinia (Italy).
In the category of Best Sustainable Tourist Destination in Europe 2023, the Algarve faces competition from destinations such as Madeira, but also Baden-Württemberg (Germany), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Edinburgh (Scotland), Majorca (Spain), Pembrokeshire (Country of Wales) and the Region of Attica (Greece).
