Important Notice Regarding AIMA Employee Strike

  • 14 August, 24

The National Federation of Public and Social Workers’ Unions has issued a strike notice by AIMA employees, scheduled to take place from August 22 to December 31, 2024. The potential strike, which centers on issues related to overtime and weekend work, can be seen as part of the growing pains that can be expected with the establishment of a new agency like AIMA, which has recently replaced SEF.

The workers’ concerns about workloads and staffing shortages – have been acknowledged by the Portuguese government, which has already taken steps to address the situation by hiring additional staff. This ongoing reinforcement of AIMA’s workforce is expected to further stabilize operations in the coming months.

Accoridng to IAS – Consulting Service Company in Portugal, they understand that news of the strike may raise concerns, but there may no disruption to biometric appointments. Since the strike primarily affects overtime and weekend work, normal business hours and essential services like biometrics should remain unaffected.
