Tourism accommodation revenue seen growing 5-8%

  • 11 April, 25

Direct takings from tourism in the accommodation business, that is activities related to hotels and short-term rentals, exceeded 15 billion euros last year.

This amount is expected to increase by between 5% and 8% to exceed €16 billion in this year’s tourism season, as the number of visitors is expected to reach 36 million people.

However, a large part of the increase is expected to come from short-term rental accommodations, as hotel occupancy rates are already relatively high and any growth in turnover there can only come from a further increase in prices.

These rates have already risen significantly in recent years and risk hitting the ceiling.
