Athens Ranks Among Top Autumn Destinations for British Travelers

Athens ranks among the top autumn destinations for British travelers this October, according to a new report by the non-profit organization Which? Travel.

With uncrowded beaches, sunny skies, and good value, October is one of the best months for a holiday. To guide travelers, the report’s experts compiled a list of top short- and long-haul destinations, along with the most affordable places to visit in October 2025, across Europe and beyond.

The Greek capital ranked 4th on the British travel bucket list, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and mild weather.

“No wonder visitors awarded Athens the maximum five stars for tourist attractions in our survey of the best seaside and beach towns in the Mediterranean, as well as four stars for value for money and food and drink,” the report noted.

What’s more, October’s mild temperatures make it ideal for exploring the city, while the nearby islands of Aegina and Agistri are just a 30-minute boat ride from Piraeus Port.

The top short-haul destination for British travelers is Dalaman in Turkey, followed by Madeira in Portugal and Salzburg in Austria. For long-haul getaways, Mumbai in India and Cape Town in South Africa stood out as the best choices.
