Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni outlined new opportunities for expanded Greek-American cooperation in the travel sector during meetings with the US tourism industry this week, following another year of strong growth in American arrivals to Greece.

In her visit to the United States, Kefalogianni highlighted the continued surge in US travel to Greece in 2024, when 1,547,400 Americans visited for leisure and business, generating €1.58 billion in revenue. The trend strengthened further in 2025: arrivals from the US rose 5.6% in the January-September period compared with the same period in 2024, while revenue increased 11.7%.

Officials attribute the gains partly to robust interest among US travelers, with two out of three Americans expressing strong intent to visit Greece. The minister also pointed to record levels of direct air service, with up to 103 weekly flights from US East Coast cities to Athens during the summer season and, for the first time, a nonstop route from the West Coast to Greece.

A new direct flight from Dallas, Texas, to Athens is also scheduled to begin service in 2026.
