Lisbon top for startup hubs

Lisbon continues to be in the top 10 of the most popular European startup hubs while also being the European capital, with the highest percentage of female founders in 2021.

The capital appears in fourth position, having risen two places compared to the previous year –with 16.36 percent of the votes of the founders.

Leading the ranking is, for the second year running, the German capital, Berlin. London (United Kingdom) and Barcelona (Spain) complete the podium, occupying the second and third places on the list, respectively. Closing the top five, after Lisbon, is the capital of the Netherlands (Amsterdam).

Lisbon is also the city, of small and medium size, which has the highest percentage of female founders (23.2 percent), followed by Dublin (23.1 percent), in Ireland, and Stockholm (20.2 percent) in Sweden.
