Casa das Lérias, a member of Historic Hotels Worldwide

Casa das Lérias in Amarante, Portugal was inducted into Historic Hotels Worldwide, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, from the United States of America (USA), which recognizes and celebrates the best historic hotels around the world. The hotel in Amarante is the result of rehabilitation that qualified for Portugal Golden Visa program developed by Mercan Group.

The Historic Hotels Worldwide program promotes heritage and cultural travel by featuring a collection of historic treasures, including historic hotels and other accommodations dating back more than 10 centuries in 47 countries around the world.

Located in the center of the small historic area, with windows facing the Tâmega river and close to the city centre, inherits its location from a historic pastry shop with the same name. The hotel offers adventure programmes, bike rides or walks along the river, tasting regional products, among other options.

Historic Hotels Worldwide membership is exclusive to select hotels, resorts and inns with historic site accommodations that are at least 75 years old and offer historic accommodations. Each member must possess one or more of the following qualities: served as a former residence or is located on the grounds of the former residence; it is a significant location for an event in history; is located in or within walking distance of a historic district, historically significant landmark, site of an historic event, or historic city center; has been recognized by a local conservation organization or national trust; and displays historic memorabilia, artwork, photographs or other examples of their historical significance.
