House price soars in Portugal and reach record 2019

Looking at the most recent data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) it is obvious that the median price of houses in the national territory increased by 6.8% in a year, reaching 1,268 euros per square meter (euros/m2) in the second quarter of 2021. And this is even the highest value recorded since 2019.

Regarding the evolution of house prices in Portugal, INE has no doubts: “The increase in the year-on-year rate of change between the first quarter of 2021 and the second quarter of 2021, from 3.1% to 6.8%, shows an acceleration in housing prices, interrupting the deceleration seen in the last quarter”, document published on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
