House rents up 1.2%

Renting a house is more expensive in six district capitals in May, with Funchal (5.3%) leading the list, according to a study by idealista.

Renting a house had an average cost of 11.2 euros per square meter (euros/m2) at the end of May. In relation to the quarterly change, the increase was 2.6% and the annual increase was 1.7%.

In May, the price of houses for rent rose in six district capitals compared to the previous month, with Funchal (5.3%) leading the list, followed by Aveiro (4.3%), Lisbon (2%), Porto (1.4%), Santarém (1.3%) and Leiria (1%).

On the other hand, house rents fell in Viseu (-9.5%), Coimbra (-4.5%), Ponta Delgada (-2.1%), Braga (-2%), Viana do Castelo (- 1.7%), Faro (-0.6%) and Setúbal (-0.6%).
