The ceremony of putting the first stone in the construction of the future Lapa Urban Park

“The last urban park in the center of Porto” measuring 1.7 hectares, will be built in August 2024, with an investment of three million euros from Mercan Group. This is an extension of the land located within the Renaissance Lapa Porto hotel, which qualified for Portugal Golden Visa and opened in April of this year.

The first stone-laying ceremony to build Lapa Park took place in December, with the presence of the Vice President of Mercan Group – Jordi Vilanova, the Mayor of Porto City Council – Rui Moreira, and the other members in attendance. During the ceremony, the Vice President of Mercan and the Mayor of Porto together laid the first stone marking the beginning of building the city’s green area.

In recent years, the total area of green spaces in the municipality of Porto, between qualifications and expansions, has been 76 hectares, of which 22 hectares are new spaces. These include the construction of the Oriental Park, the west end of the City Park, the expansion of the São Roque Park, the construction of the Asprela Park, and the green roof of the Campanhã Intermodal Terminal.

Renaissance Lapa Porto Hotel
