The Mercan Group is investing 450 million euros to build eight more hotels in Lisbon and the Algarve

In 2024, Mercan Group expected will open 3 hotels in Portugal. One of our new projects which located near Vau Beach in Portimão is the country’s first Hard Rock Hotel. Furthermore, Mercan plans to spend 450 million euros to construct 8 more hotels in the country, primarily in the Lisbon and Algarve regions.

According to Miguel Gomes, Construction and Development General Manager at Mercan, the construction of Hard Rock project will start in 2024. However, it is not possible to say exactly when construction will begin on the project because it depends on the time the government issues the project construction permit.

The new hotel is expected to open in the summer of 2026. The hotel includes about 452 luxurious rooms and suites, amenities such as Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club, 3 restaurants, 3 bars, 3 outdoor swimming pools, Rock spa, gym, Rock shop, sports area, a beach club, and it also offers a conference room.

Hard Rock Hotel

In addition to the Hard Rock project, which is expected to begin construction in 2024, this year Mercan Group will also open 3 hotels with an investment of 54.6 million euros, including Holiday Inn Express Porto-Boavista , with 91 rooms and an investment of 21 million euros, the Holiday Inn Express Évora – Mercan’s second unit in this city – with 76 rooms and an investment of 16.8 million, and Holiday Inn Beja will have 95 rooms with an investment of 16.8 million. These three units will be managed by AHM – Ace Hospitality Management, a company within the Mercan Group.
