22 multinational companies, including Pfizer, Google, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, AES Corporation, Siemens and Cisco Systems, reaffirmed their interest in expanding operations and making new investments in Panama, after a meeting with the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, held within the framework of the Latin America and Caribbean International Economic Forum 2026, organized by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF). During the meeting, the president asserted that his administration has managed to “put its house in order” through efficiency and fiscal and financial transparency, maintaining a stable climate for investors.
The Executive Branch highlighted the public investment plan—exceeding $11 billion—to be implemented this year, focused on road infrastructure, health, and access to drinking water. Similarly, it emphasized the stabilization of the Social Security Fund’s (CSS) pension system, the strengthening of the country’s logistics and connectivity platform, and the commitment to education reform as a key economic driver, to empower the workforce and guarantee employment.
These investments, in addition to those of the Panama Canal Authority, in the construction of ports, a gas pipeline and a reservoir to improve the operational efficiency of the waterway, will significantly impact the economy.
Mulino also emphasized that Panama is committed to technology, its use to improve the country’s advantages and competitiveness, and as a fundamental subject within the national training process, focused on new trends such as the management of artificial intelligence and matters related to semiconductors.
“The country has begun to move in the right direction and with order. This brings stability and social peace to the country while advancing an international agenda of integration and opening up to new markets, such as Mercosur,” the Panamanian leader pointed out.
