New York to Azores route announced

North American airline United Airlines has announced that it will start connecting New York City to Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, from 13 May until the end of September 2022.
In a statement regarding next summer’s operation, United Airlines says that it will be the “only airline to link the Azores to the New York metropolitan area”, through a daily flight between Newark airport and João Paulo II airport, in San Miguel.
“The carrier will offer the largest number of flights between the United States and Portugal compared to any North American airline”, says the company.
In addition to the route to the Azores, the company will continue to make the connection from New York to Porto, as of March, and to Lisbon, as of “next summer”.
