In a landmark move to modernize immigration services, Portugal’s Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) has announced the creation of a Multidisciplinary Data Management Team (DATA). - Boost operational efficiency while ensuring full legal and regulatory compliance
- Integrate resources from AIMA’s own budget, Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and European Union funding
New UX Team to Enhance Digital Service Experience
Alongside the DATA team, AIMA has also launched a Multidisciplinary Digital Solutions Team (UX Team) to enhance digital interaction experiences for both internal staff and external users. The UX team will focus on making systems intuitive, user-friendly, and aligned with user needs. Core Responsibilities of the UX Team:
- Analyze and improve internal system usability based on UX and accessibility standards
- Promote adoption of new solutions via training, onboarding support, and user guides
- Plan and monitor digital project rollouts, identifying automation and transformation opportunities
- Design, test, and deploy simple, scalable, and user-centered digital tools
AIMA to Expand Services with 10 New Migration Support Centers
Speaking at the inauguration of a new CLAIM (Local Support Center for Migrants) in Fundão, Pedro Gaspar Portugal revealed that AIMA currently handles 7,000 consultations daily and plans to open approximately 10 new CLAIM centers in the second half of 2025.
Portugal now has around 170 CLAIM centers nationwide, 90 of which operate in partnership with local municipalities, providing information, guidance, and referral services to migrants and asylum seekers.
