International traffic at Athens airport up 11%

International passenger traffic at Athens’ main airport has increased by 11% since the beginning of the year, to 8,387,287 travelers, while the number of flights from abroad served by the airport in the same period increased by 11.9% – from 55,078 to 61,653 flights.

If domestic flights are also included, aircraft movements in January-May this year reached 99,185, an increase of 7.4% from the same period last year.

These are numbers that were practically unimaginable up to a few years ago, but are now considered quite normal by anyone who has taken a walk in the historic center of Athens, where the majority of people on the streets appear to be tourists.
