Portugal is the only EU country that nominated for top 10

In the list of 59 countries from around the world, Portugal is considered as one of the destinations with the best quality of living and working, taking fifth place in the table. This is the survey from Expat Insider, developed by InterNations, which included the participation of 12,420 expats.

In this survey, about 84% of respondents said they were “satisfied with life in general” in the national territory. There are several factors to explain this satisfaction: foreign nationals who have chosen to live outside of their home country to enjoy a high quality of life, local entertainment options, sunny weather and security.

Portugal ranked in the top 10 in three of the five analyzed: quality of life (3rd), ease of settling (9th) and cost of living (9th).

Portugal is the only European destination to be in the ‘top 10’ of the overall ranking. While the second best ranked European country Czech Republic ranked 15th and Spain followed with 16th.

In this list, Taiwan, in Southeast Asia, won the medal in first place. Followed by Mexico in the second, in Central America. The third and fourth places belongs to Costa Rica and Malaysia, respectively.
