Hotel prices up 30%

  • 21 August, 23

In Portugal, during the first half of this year, the average price for a night in a hotel reached 136.80 euros. A value that is 30% above (31.35 euros more) the 105.45 euros set in the first half of 2019, before the pandemic, and which exceeds by 13.5% the average value of 120.56 euros recorded in the same period .

And this figure has risen taking into account that during the summer months (July and August), hotels, in general, choose to adjust prices to the period of greatest demand from tourists, according to a report by ECO.

With these prices, a night in a hotel in Portugal is more expensive than in Spain where the average value, until June, was slightly lower at 135.8 euros, achieving an occupancy rate higher than in Portugal (set at 62.3%) with 70.2%. But the difference increases when we compare Portugal with Germany where the income per occupied room (ADR) is 113.73 euros and in the United Kingdom 128.62 euros.

The values were advanced to ECO by the North American consultancy CoStar, which analyses data in the real estate and tourism markets.
