Portugal – Construction sector grows in 2020

Estimates by AICCOPN and AECOPS point to an increase in the gross value of the sector’s production to 13,739 million euros. Growth rate in 2018:3,5 and 2019:6%.

Investment (GFCF) in construction and the Gross Value Added (GVA) of the sector recorded changes of 4.3% and 3.2% in the first three quarters of 2020, in year-on-year terms, and the consumption of cement in the national market already amounted to 3.3 million tons until the end of November, which corresponds to an increase of 10.9% in year-on-year terms.

There are significant increases until the end of November, both in terms of the tenders promoted and the contracts concluded, with very significant variations, namely above 20% in the value of the works promoted, so, taking into account the expected duration of the works, it is estimated a 3% growth in the gross production value of the segment, to 6,389 million euros
