Portugal voted Best Destination in Europe

For the fifth time in six years Portugal has been voted as the “Best Tourist Destination in Europe” at the “Oscars” of tourism.

Portugal picked up the award for the “Best Tourist Destination in Europe”, in the European edition of the World Travel Awards 2022, as well as 30 other awards.

“The election results from the votes of thousands of professionals in the sector, from all countries in the world, and this year Portugal won another 30 awards, among destinations, regions and products and services”, the Ministry of Economy and Services said in a statement.

In terms of regional destinations, the Azores (Europe’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination), Algarve (Europe’s Leading Beach Destination), Lisbon (Europe’s Leading City Break Destination, Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination and Europe’s Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination) and Porto (Europe’s Leading City Destination) all also received recognition.

“All agents in the sector are to be congratulated for being up to this challenge, which is to affirm Portugal as a tourist destination of excellence, whatever the circumstances”, says the Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Rita Marques.
